Nachhaltige Softwareentwicklung - Von der Inhouse-L��sung zur Open Source-Community am Beispiel von MerMEId

Abstract

Die nachhaltige Entwicklung von Forschungssoftware ist eine der zentralen Herausforderungen in den Digital Humanities. W��hrend Praktiken der ��berlieferung und Sicherung von Forschungsdaten schon einen gewissen Reifegrad erreicht haben, steckt die Kultur der Entwicklung eines digitalen Ged��chtnisses in Bezug auf Software noch in den Anf��ngen. In diesem Beitrag werden bestehende Vorschl��ge f��r Nachhaltigkeitskriterien am Beispiel der Software MerMEId, einem Editor f��r Metadaten musikwissenschaftlicher Editionen, diskutiert. Dabei wird insbesondere die Entwicklungsgeschichte von MerMEId von einer In-House-L��sung zu einem Open Source Community-Projekt in den Blick genommen. Es zeigt sich, dass die positiven Effekte des ��bergangs zu einer Community-Entwicklung von bestehenden Kriterien nur begrenzt erfasst werden. Auch sind manche Kriterien nur bedingt f��r eine DH-Software mit einer eher kleinen Nutzer*innenbasis und Community geeignet. Eine weitere Reflexion ��ber Kriterien f��r nachhaltige Softwareentwicklung in den DH sowie eine regelm����ige Beurteilung der Nachhaltigkeit einzelner Software-Projekte bleiben daher unerl��sslich. Ein Beitrag zur 8. Tagung des Verbands "Digital Humanities im deutschsprachigen Raum" - DHd 2022 Kulturen des digitalen Ged��chtnisses.
