Enderleinellus longiceps Kellogg & Ferris Orangeburg Co., Orangeburg, 11 August 1998, ex Sciurus carolinensis Gmelin, coll. S. Miller; Pickens Co., Pendleton Road, 1 May 2004, ex S. carolinensis, coll. M.P. Nelder. All enderleinellids are ectoparasites of Sciuridae (Durden & Musser 1994). Enderleinellus longiceps is a specific ectoparasite of Sciurus niger Linnaeus and S. carolinensis. Our collection represents a new state record, but this louse has been reported in the nearby states of Georgia and Tennessee (Kim et al. 1986; Durden et al. 1997).
