Acromyrmex Mayr

Abstract

Genus Acromyrmex Mayr These leafcutting ants are represented in California by a single species, Acromyrmex versicolor (Pergande), confined to the southern deserts. The harvested leaves are used to culture a basidiomycete fungus, which is the principal food of the ants.
