Mullidae * Mullus surmuletus Linnaeus, 1758 —Striped red mullet Not recorded from Madeira by Ben-Tuvia in Whitehead et al. (1986: 879) or Ben-Tuvia in Quéro et al. (1990: 827-828) even though it is one of the most common coastal fish species there. Recorded by, for instance, Maul (1949), Nunes (1974: 209), and Wirtz (1994: 78).
