Plotosidae Plotosus lineatus (Thunberg, 1787) —Striped catfish, striped eel catfish STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on specimens photographed at St. CTR 0 6, and by Tan H. H. at St. PR 10 on 8 Nov. 2012. AMS, BPBM and USNM material (AMS I.17089-002; BPBM 13633; USNM 219474, 219486, 219477). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea, East Africa and Algoa Bay (South Africa) east to Samoa and Tonga, north to southern Korea, southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, south to Western Australia at 32°S and Lord Howe Island. Found in coral reefs; also in estuaries, tidal pools and on open coasts, 1– 60 m. Transitional water and marine.
