Xya pfaendleri pfaendleri (Harz, 1970) = crni buhoskakavac / tamna ksija (Fig. 7A) First faunistic record for Croatia: Szövényi & Puskás 2012 Also reported as: X. variegata Latreille, 1809 [partim] (e.g. Pungur 1891) Distribution in Croatia: Nominal subspecies only. Pannonian region only. There are suitable habitats in other parts of Croatia as well, where its presence should be investigated in the future. Since Xya p. pfaedleri was separated from X. variegata in 1970 (Harz), all older records of the latter species should be revised. Distribution in Europe: From Cyprus and Rhodes (southern border of the distribution) to Czechia (northern border), and from Slovenia (western border) to Southern Ukraine (eastern border) (Hochkirch et al. 2016).
