Bioética y farmacología: Dilemas morales de la investigación científica en seres humanos

Abstract

La investigación en seres humanos es un tema altamente controvertido, un espacio de reflexión para la filosofía, en particular para la bioética, que como parte de la ética aplicada, considera el valor de las acciones humanas en medio de la sociedad global. Esta disciplina se consolida en la década de los setenta del siglo XX, como una crítica a la conducción de la vida, donde se reconoce que los actos humanos tienen incidencia en los eventos catastróficos vividos en el planeta. Por esta razón, se define como un estudio ampliado de la vida, desde sus acepciones humanas, medioambientales, clínicas, farmacológicas, sirviendo de enlace entre el saber riguroso de la ciencia y de diversas posturas humanísticas. En el campo de investigación sobre humanos, fija las pautas y normativas que deben regir la experimentación, participando activamente como voz para aquellos que no pueden ejercer libremente sus derechos o tienen limitantes a la hora de definir sus opciones. Esto otorga una notable importancia a los Comités de Bioética, órganos responsables de velar por la integridad de la vida, tanto humana, animal o vegetal. Si bien es cierto, la experimentación y desarrollo de fármacos no es algo nuevo en la historia humana, en el siglo XXI, con la aparición de la pandemia, se ha redimensionado el debate sobre la vida, la muerte, la experimentación humana, el derecho a morir, a vivir dignamente, además de otros enfoques que ameritan discusión, en especial, desde las amplias dimensiones de la filosofía.
