NKRUMAH'S PAN-AFRICANISM: A PROPOSAL FOR AFRICAN INTEGRATION

Abstract

When we observe the constant change that is happening both externally and internally, the question on how best Africa can realize its unity and through which ideology remains to be a perennial question of our time. This article seeks to tackle aspects which seem obsolete, misunderstood, and neglected so as to bring forth arguments and possible solutions to varied perennial problems that serve the purpose of the present context with burdening concerns for Africa’s integration. Another concern unveiled in this paper is that which sets out to demonstrate the fact that, it will be erroneous on our part to remain constant in the views of pan Africanism such as by depending on the former version as defended by its peers of which changes are very essential. This paper aims adopts a holistic approach that will permit us embrace facts that must not only be based on the thoughts of the founders but which still serve the aspirations of the Africans in the 21st century. So, tackling the relevance of Nkrumah’s Pan-Africanism to correct aspects of life and society that do not suit its context today will constitute the crux of this article.
