Pontocaris arafurae (Bruce, 1988) Pontocheras arafurae Bruce, 1988: 213, pl. 86, figs. 1–6, 7A–E (type locality: Arafura Sea) Pontocaris arafurae.— Holthuis, 1993: 377, 298, fig. 295.— Chan, 1996: 297, fig. 9. Material examined. Western Australia: 1 female CL= 8.8 mm, North West Cape, 21°32.17′S, 114°03.72′E, stn.: 103501, depth: 100 m, date: 15 Mar 2001, WAM reg. no. C28780. Distribution. Previously known from Arafura Sea of Australia to Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore. The present records: Western Australia; at depths of 10–199 meters. Remarks. This record is the first record from Western Australia. The present material agrees well with the description of and illustrations by Bruce (1988) and Chan (1996), including lateral carina on carapace armed with only 1 tooth; lateral ridges on pleonal somite 2 interrupted and sinuous, pleonal somite 3 lacking anterdorsal tooth; branchiostegal spine moderately long; pleonal somite 4 without distinct posteromedian tooth.
