Abstract

Ammothella Verril, 1900 Ammothella appendiculata (Dohrn, 1881) — Marcus, 1940c: 89 –91, fig 11a–e (Brazil: Rio de Janeiro, shallow water).— Stock, 1992: 116 (Brazil: São Paulo, Espírito Santo, intertidal to 28 m).— Varoli, 1996: 42 (Brazil: São Paulo). Original name: Ammothea appendiculata —Dohrn, 1881. Syn.: Ammothea (Ammothella) appendiculata —Bouvier, 1923. Holotype: Unknown. Type locality: Santa Lucia, Gulf of Naples, Italy. Ecological note: On Sargassum cymosum C. Agardh and S. rigidulum Kuetzing. Ammothella rugulosa (Verrill, 1900) — Marcus, 1940c: 92 –93, fig 12a–g (Brazil: São Paulo, shallow water).— Stock, 1992: 116 (Brazil: Rio de Janeiro, 34 m). Original name: Ammothea (Ammothella) rugulosa Verrill, 1900. Holotype: Unknown. Type locality: Bailey Bay, Bermuda. Ammothella spinifera Cole, 1904 — Stock, 1992: 116 (Brazil: São Paulo, infralittoral). Holotype: MVZ nº. 19.509. Type locality: San Diego, California, USA. Ecological notes: On rocks, amongst ascidians, bryozoans and sponges, infralittoral zone.
