In the contemporary world, the population is increasing and consequently energy consumption, especially non-renewable ones, has increased. On the other hand, fossil fuel resources such as oil and gas, etc. are declining. Therefore, the use of renewable energy such as solar, wind, etc. is a necessity. Using renewable energy sources, in addition to reducing the costs of using fossil fuels, will help save the earth and prevent it from overheating. Using solar panels in buildings to use solar energy is one of the ways to use renewable energy in buildings. Solar architecture, which uses solar panels and solar cells, has created a new style of architecture. This energy is one of the cleanest and most accessible renewable sources in the world and is the main source of all energy on Earth. Solar energy is converted directly and indirectly into various forms. Using this energy is one of the best methods in countries like Iran where the amount of annual radiation is high. In this article, we will review the basics of how solar cells function as electronic components, and learn that the heart of a solar cell is a semiconductor material that produces electrons and holes by absorbing sunlight at the right wavelengths.
