Western Atlantic—Brazil (Espírito Santo to Rio Grande do Sul) to Argentina (Buenos Aires) (Christoffersen 1998). Previous records. Several stations sampled by the R/V Wladimir Besnard from 23°24’S to 23°46’S (Ubatuba) (Christoffersen 1979); no new material provided (Christoffersen 1982; 1998). Remarks. Alpheus puapeba has been previously collected from depths of 45–175 m (Christoffersen 1979). The specimens reported here were obtained from depths of 12–28 m, extending the bathymetric range of the species. GenBank accession number: CCDB 3821—16S (KU312977).
