Abstract

Chnoodes cerasus Krüger & Almeida sp. nov. (Fig. 4) Diagnosis. Chnoodes cerasus sp. nov. resembles C. brulei sp. nov. and C. rubra sp. nov. in the color of the integument, but differs in the shape and size of the male genitalia and in the shape of the spermatheca. Description. Male. Length 2.86–2.98 mm, width 2.26–2.38 mm. Body rounded, with short fine whitish pubescence. Integument of pronotum, scutellar shield and elytra cherry-red, without spots; lateral border of pronotum slightly orange, anterior border translucent (Figs. 4A, D). Head reddish to brownish, antennae and mouthparts brownish (Fig. 4C). Meso- and metaventrite brownish to black. Epipleuron reddish, with slight excavations to receive femora. Legs with femora, tibiae and tarsi brownish to orangeish (Fig. 4B). Abdomen with middle region of ventrites dark brownish. Genitalia with tegmen, penis guide, phallobase and parameres symmetrical. Penis guide shorter than parameres, strongly tapered at apex, mammiliform (Fig. 4E). Parameres articulated with phallobase, close to each other, 3x longer than penis guide, slightly widened at apex, with short bristles at base and long bristles on median part of parameres (Fig. 4F). Penis sclerotized, J-shaped, apex rounded with small emargination, penis capsule Tshaped (Fig. 4G). Female. Length 3.26–3.42 mm, width 2.78–2.96 mm. Similar to male. Genitalia with coxites longer, four times longer than wide, subtriangular; stylus mammiliform with short bristles (Fig. 4H). Spermatheca long, Cshaped, without ramus and nodulus, slightly curved at apex, rounded (Fig. 4I). Etymology. Latin, cerasus = cherry; referring to the overall color. Geographical Distribution. French Guiana (Roura, Saül, Matoury) (Fig. 7). Type material.
