Abstract

Farfantepenaeus notialis (Pérez-Farfante, 1967) Material examined. Petro-UFS—1 M, 1 F; size range: 15.40 ≤ CL ≤ 16.51 mm; average: CL = 15.96 ± 0.78 mm; CZUFS CRU- 00039. Stations. Petro-UFS—11. Distribution. Western Atlantic—From Cuba to the Virgin Islands, la Ascentión, Quintana Roo, Mexico, along with the Caribbean coast of Central and South America, and the Atlantic coast of South America to Alagoas, Brazil (Records from Ilhéus to Cabo Frio need confirmation). Eastern Atlantic—west coast of Africa, from Mauritania to Angola (Pérez-Farfante 1988; D’Incao 1998). Ecological notes. Found in waters up to 720 m depth, but more frequently at depths less than 70 m, juveniles living in estuarine waters (D’Incao 1998). Remarks. Previously recorded as Penaeus notialis (Pérez-Farfante 1969; D’Incao 1998), as Penaeus duorarum notialis (Coelho & Ramos 1972), and as Penaeus duorarum var. camaronensis (De Grave & Fransen 2011). Previous records in Sergipe. Coelho et al. (1983).
