Our study analyzes the student assistance program in federal universities Brazilian, such as the professional workplace of the social worker. We believe that this program aims to meet the needs of students in college attendance and calls for the inclusion of the social worker as a professional inserted in the education policy, in which you have dilemmas and limits of work taking into account the recent capitalist transformations such as the "reform" of the State and the neoliberal adjustments, since the 1990s. In this period there is a progressive development of production-design education, which develops a tendency to articulate more strongly education with the demands of the market and the dynamics of accumulation, given the countries on the periphery of international and multilateral financial organizations.
