Phyllanthus emblica Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 982. 1753. "Habitat in India." RCN: 7114. Type not designated. Original material: Herb. Hermann 5: 85, No. 333 [icon] (BM); Herb. Burser XXIII: 47 (UPS); [icon] in Zanoni, Istoria Bot.: 154, t. 61. 1675; [icon] in Rheede, Hort. Malab. 1: 69, t. 38. 1678. Current name: Phyllanthus emblica L. (Euphorbiaceae). Note: Radcliffe-Smith (in Kew Bull. 41: 35. 1986) indicated 1105.11 (LINN) as holotype, but this collection lacks the relevant Species Plantarum number (i.e. “6”) and was a post-1753 addition to the herbarium, and is not original material for the name.
