Size 81/2 in. by 51/4 in.; foll. 98. Five lines in a page. A concise Grammar, entitled الارشاد , by Shihâb (al-dîn Aḥmad) b. Shams (al-dîn) b. ‘Omar Zâwulî1 DAULATÂBÂDÎ2 (or Hindî, flourished about the ninth century). See Ḥ. Kh. i. 255; Cat. Mus. Brit. 242; Cat. Lugd. i. 47 sq. After the preface, the treatise begins as follows: اعلم ان النحو علم يعرف به كيفية التركيب العربى صحة و سقاما. Well written, with copious glosses, but incomplete. This book was the property of Muḥammad b. Shaikh Miyân b. ׳Abd al-ghaffâr b. Maulânâ ‘Omar shâh. [Hastings.] 1 This MS. has الزوالی, but the commentary (no. 976) gives الزاولی, i.e. a native of Zâwulistân. 2 Daulatâbâd is, according to the same commentary, بلدة من بلاد جونپور.
