Abstract

Polydactylus approximans (Lay & Bennett, 1839). Blue Bobo; Barbudo Azul, Bobo Blanco, Barbudo de Seis Barbas. Distribution: Global: Eastern Pacific Ocean; from Central California, USA, to Chile, including the Cocos, Malpelo and Galapagos Islands; entering estuaries and littoral lagoons and ascending river courses; Costa Rica: Co (Pacific), 0– 5 m.a.s.l., Per, Dia. Occurrence and conservation status: Nat, LC. References: Robertson & Allen (2015: 1402; detailed description, including illustrations, information on distribution, with a map, and ecology) and Angulo et al. (2020: 1; new country record, including information on distribution, an identification key and illustrations).
