Taking into account the more than seven hundred music bands existing in the State of Minas Gerais, it is clear that there is great diversity and a rich source of knowledge in pedagogical and methodological terms that can contribute to the development of Brazilian music education. In this context, music bands have stood out for being considered permanent, democratic and easily accessible musical schools in the interior cities, where many of them are recognized as intangible cultural heritage. Therefore, this work proposes an ethnographic study of the Rio das Mortes Band (MG), based on the role of the band's masters as educators. From interviews, supplemented by document analysis, ethnographic observation of rehearsals, classes and various presentations held within and outside the Rio das Mortes community, some characteristics intrinsic to the learning that takes place in that band are identified, guided by the collaboration between the apprentice musicians. In addition, through the construction of a "dialogue" it was possible to analyze, understand, identify, question and legitimize the possible methodologies used by band masters who mainly use the empirical knowledge they have to accelerate and simplify the musical learning carried out in that corporation.
