Abstract

Mito, s��mbolo, rito, icono resultan formas diversas de plasmar las creencias, de materializar o de imaginar la religi��n, de ah�� que resulten universos vivos pero quiz�� por ello carentes de esa estructura ordenada en la que tan seguros solemos encontrarnos. De igual modo que el objeto que m��s que estudiar se intenta vislumbrar (la religi��n), este libro posee un car��cter tambi��n miscel��neo. Ofrece, como en un mosaico formado de motivos diferentes, una visi��n del mundo religioso griego antiguo que renuncia a la sistematizaci��n y a la fuerza del orden. Se revisan algunos mitos, pero lejos de cualquier exhaustividad de tratado mitol��gico; se reflexiona sobre algunos s��mbolos, pero renunciando a cualquier intento de explicarlos de modo exhaustivo; se encaran problemas como el de la m��stica, pero planteando hip��tesis m��s que ofreciendo rotundas soluciones; se reflexiona sobre algunas im��genes, pero sin intentar agotar su riqueza por medio del compendio. Se ofrecen pinceladas, sugerencias que intentan reflejar la riqueza tanto de lo conocido como de lo perdido del mundo religioso griego antiguo. Para abarcar esta diversidad se ha escogido la met��fora del lenguaje. Vivo, en mutaci��n, dif��cilmente aprehensible en su dinamismo, del mismo modo que ocurre con la religi��n. Pero, adem��s, el binomio religi��n-lenguaje parece poseer un parentesco que casi podr��amos denominar original.
