Abstract

Pentatomidae. Ainda poucas espécies de pentatomídeos possuem os estágios imaturos descritos, estando este conhecimento geralmente restrito aquelas espécies de importância econômica. Amaior parte das características utilizadas na literatura para o diagnóstico geral dos imaturos da família são válidas, de uma forma geral, para muitas das famílias de Pentatomoidea, Pentatomomorpha ou mesmo Heteroptera (Yonke, 1991; Carver et al., 1991; Schuh & Slater, 1995). Trabalhos mais detalhados apontam para a possibilidade de identificações a nível genérico ou específico com base nos ovos e ninfas de pentatomídeos (p. ex. Saini, 1984, 1989, Bundy & Mc Pherson, 2000, Schwertner et al., 2002a). Para a Argentina, 22 espécies têm seus imaturos conhecidos (Rizzo, 1968; 1971; 1976; Grazia et al., 1980; 1982a; 1982b; 1983; 1984; 1985; Martins et al., 1986; Vecchio et al., 1988; Rizzo & Saini, 1987; Fortes & Grazia, 1990; Vecchio & Grazia, 1992; 1993; Saini, 1994; Grazia & Frey-da-Silva, 2001; Greve et al., 2003). Características diagnósticas: ovos em forma de barril, por vezes fortemente esculturados; presença do ruptor ovis; ninfas com corpo de forma oval a oval-alongado; cabeça tão ou mais longa que larga; antenas com quatro segmentos; ocelos ausentes; pterotecas no quinto ínstar atingindo o terceiro tergito abdominal; tergitos abdominais não divididos pelo mesonoto (pré-escutelo); aberturas pares das glândulas odoríferas abdominais situadas, em posição similar, na margem posterior dos tergitos 3, 4 e 5. Épossível o reconhecimento de machos e fêmeas a partir do quinto instar.
