Fowleria variegata Red Sea: SMF 1261, 36.0 mm, (paratype of Apogon punctulatus Rüppell); SMF 4685, 31.8 mm (paratype of A. punctulatus Rüppell); SMF 4686, 29.5 mm (holotype of A. punctulatus Rüppell), all three from Massawa, Eritrea; SAIAB 87543, 38.8 mm, Hamata, Egypt; SAIAB 87546, 37.2 mm, Shams Alam, Egypt. Western Indian Ocean: SAIAB 62814, 49.5 mm, Belle Mare Plage, Mauritius; SAIAB 69030, 2: 38.1– 39.4 mm, SAIAB 69540, 32.3 mm and SAIAB 69851, 34.5 mm, all from Rodrigues; SAIAB 62773, 43.2 mm and SAIAB 76468, 16: 18.6–45.5 mm, both from Mahé, Seychelles.
