Hampsonascia aulaca Volynkin & Černý 2021, sp. n.

Authors: Volynkin, Anton V.; Černý, Karel;

Hampsonascia aulaca Volynkin & Černý 2021, sp. n.

Abstract

Hampsonascia aulaca sp. n. (Figs 14, 30) Type material. Holotype (Figs 14, 30): male, “N-Vietnam 200m Ben En Nat.Park 40km SW Than Hoa 18.40’N 105.40’E 22.–30.XI.1994 leg. Sinjaev [recte: Sinyaev] & Simonov”, gen. prep. No.: ZSM Arct. 2019-801 (prepared by Volynkin) (MWM/ ZSM). Diagnosis. The forewing length is 8 mm in the holotype male. Hampsonascia aulaca sp. n. is externally reminiscent of H. dentifascia and H. thaifascia sp. n. but can be distinguished in the smaller size, the presence of three subbasal spots and the shorter and broader zigzags of the postmedial line. The male genitalia of the new species are clearly different from those of other congeners by the broader vesica bearing four clusters of large spines and having an unilobate distal diverticulum, a feature unique within the genus. The detailed comparison with H. saldaitisi sp. n. is provided above in the diagnosis of the latter species. Distribution. The new species is known only from its type locality in Thanh Hóa Province in North Vietnam. Etymology. Âu Lạc was a kingdom on the territory of the modern North Vietnam.
