Punta Eugenia, southern Baja California (Gotshall 1998) to northern Peru (Chirichigno and Vélez 1998), including Gulf of California (Allen 1985) and Islas Galápagos (Grove and Lavenberg 1997) and other offshore islands (Robertson and Allen 2002). Depth: intertidal to 80 m (262 ft) (min.: Weaver 1970; max.: Sánchez-Jiménez et al. 2018).
