Russell during 7–28 June 2014; a specimen observed at Nemto Island, New Hanover, 4–15 m depth, St. T 23, on 7 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen. Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Red Sea, East and South Africa, Mozambique Channel, Seychelles, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Panama, north to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands and Hawaiian Islands, south to Western Australia, New South Wales (Australia), New Caledonia and Tonga. Epipelagic, 0–200 m depth. Marine.
