Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Java (Indonesia) east to Philippines and Vanuatu, north to southern Japan, south to Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Found on steep seaward reef dropoffs, 6–50 m depth. Marine.
