Nemateleotris magnifica Fowler 1938 —Fire dartfish Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed in Kavieng Lagoon by Jeff Kinch during ACIAR Aquarium Survey in 2013 (see Teitelbaum et al. 2013: 15, as N. magnificus); a video of a specimen taken at Nubilus Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–32 m depth, St. KR 88, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell). Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: East Africa east to Hawaiian and Pitcairn islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found in burrows on silt or mud slopes, 6–70 m depth. Marine.
