New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: East Africa, north to Seychelles and western Mascarenes east to Marshall Islands and Marquesas Islands, Australia north to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, south to southern Indonesia, New Guinea and Tonga. Schooling near coastal, lagoon and seaward coral reefs, 1–30 m depth. Marine.
