Distribution in Iran. East Azarbaijan (Brown & Eralp 1962), Guilan, Khorasan (Linnavuori 2008), Mazandaran (Modarres Awal 1997b; Sakenin et al. 2008), Iran (no locality cited) (Khanjani 2006; Göllner-Scheiding 2006b). General distribution. Palearctic. Host plants. On Cyperaceae (Linnavuori 2008) and on wheat (Modarres Awal 1997b; Khanjani 2006), Hibiscus trionum, Malva montana (both Malvaceae), Vicia faba (Fabaceae) (Sakenin et al. 2008). On Poaceae and Cyperaceaea in wet biotopes (Dusoulier & Lupoli 2006). Comment. Several varieties (without taxonomic value) have been described for this species, e.g. obscuratus, triguttatus, tuberculatus, lurida, inclusa, punctulata by Wagner 1938, 1940; flavida, rosea, nigrita by Halászfy 1959. Another subspecies (testudinaria sinica Walker, 1867) has been described from China and is distributed in China, Korea and Japan; according to Göllner-Scheiding (2006b) it is a "poorly differentiated subspecies".
