Custom-made colormaps RGB values (in folder colormaps) BlueWhiteOrangeRed.rgb ice_new.rgb DATA (folder data_zenodo) 1. folder observations: ATT_POS_CONT_microguideII_tbinned_iwc_icnc_rad_4c_spacing.nc in-situ observations from Attrex, Posidon, and Contrast field campaigs binned in 4°C temperature bins used in figure A1. colocated_COD_BT_WP_IO_2009.nc: Colocated cloud properties from DARDAR-CLOUD v2.1.1 and MODIS brightness temperature over the tropical West Pacific and Indian Oceans for the year 2009. Cloud layer properties were computed after removing all cloudy pixels with an extinction coefficient below 1.225e-4 m-1. The tropical West Pacific data were used to produce figures B1 and B2. More info in Sokol and Hartmann, 2020: https://doi.org/10.1029/2020JD033107 Himawari_0.25deg_JJA2016z.nc: Himawari geostationary data at 1 hourly time resolution, regridded to 0.25° x 0.25° grid, for June 1 to Aug 31 2016. Used in figure 1. landfrac_0p25deg.nc: Land-ocean mask for a 0.25° x 0.25° grid used in Figure 1. 2. folder midcld Data from idealized cloud lifecycle simulations that start with a cloud initialized in the middle of the model domain, used in figures 2 – 10. OUT_STAT: domain averaged output OUT_2D: 2 dimensional output OUT_3D: 3 dimensional output 3. folder rce Post-processed data from a 50-day long RCE simulation (considered only the last 30 days). Included data used in Figures 11-14.
