Cucumaria deichmanni Cherbonnier, 1952: 478. Roweia frauenfeldi frauenfeldi Thandar, 1985: 110, figs. 1–2; 1991: 137, figs. 2d, e, 15e, f; 1991: 137, figs. 2d, e & 15e, f (synonymy). Diagnosis (See Thandar 1985) Material examined. SAMC-A 090913, Port Alfred, J. Hewitt, 18.III.1934, 5 spec. Distribution. Southern Angola to East London, intertidal. Remarks. This is another well-known southern African shallow-water species. Thandar (1985) separated the temperate form R. frauenfeldi frauenfeldi (Ludwig) from the sub-tropical form R. frauenfeldi webbi Thandar. However, due to the absence of slender rods in the body wall and the presence of rosettes in the anal region of R. frauenfeldi webbi the writer is now of the opinion that both subspecies should be elevated to full species.
