The CARARE metadata schema is designed to support the delivery of metadata relating to the archaeological and architectural heritage. The CARARE metadata schema builds on existing standards and best practice from a number of different countries in Europe and the rest of the world. The standards which form the background to the CARARE metadata schema include: CIDOC Archaeological Sites Core Data Standard Core Data Index to Historic Buildings and Monuments of the Architectural Heritage CIDOC CRM MIDAS Heritage POLIS DTD LIDO The CARARE schema builds on these standards and also the work of the members of the CARARE metadata working group. The current version of the schema is V 2.0 .
