Caribbean coastline of northern South America to Surinam; Venezuela, Trinidad, Aruba and Curaçao (Kraepelin 1903; Attems 1930; Bücherl 1942; Shelley & Kiser 2000; Shelley 2006). All records from Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, St. Thomas, and U. S. Virgin Islands represent accidental human introductions or labelling errors (Shelley 2006). In Colombia it is known only from the Caribbean Región. Altitudinal range. 9 to 40 m.
