In the paper the researcher ascertained and characterized the types of compound sentences with cause-subordinate clause regarding their pragmatic display. As the Ukrainian linguistics has lacked for detailed studies that would disclose the peculiarities of functioning of compound sentences with cause-subordinate clause from the point of their communicative or pragmatic representation, reference to this problem is rightful. Compound sentences with cause-subordinate clause express functional characteristics of language and speech, so the goal of our research is to determine characteristics of the studied syntactic formation not only as grammatical but also as a communication unit. In this connection it is necessary to identify principles of correlation between communicative and functional type of sentences and communication objective, which is performed as a result of actualization of this type of sentence in speech.The researcher concludes that works of modern Ukrainian literature contain such prag-matic types of compound sentences with cause-subordinate clause as constatives, directives and quesitives. Constatives and quesitives are manifested as sentences, which are pure message and pure questions, or they can be combined in different variations with components that have various illocutive power. In all described constructions, realization of communicative intentional content of the first part is impossible without implementation of communicative intentional content of the second part.
