Affective Control of Decision Making

Abstract

The dataset contains the raw and primary data associated to the project Affective Control of Decision Making (ACoDM). This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, Grant No 867424. Below we supply information on the provided metadata, which refer to individual raw files, and details on the specific data formats used. For further explanation please refer to the file DataSet0_Overview.rtf. The aim of this research is to understand affective aspects of circuit mechanisms underlying decision-making. Specifically, the functions of the amygdalostriatal and amygdalocortical pathways in an approach-avoidance conflict and the circuit mechanisms underlying the activation of such pathways. While trying to understand this, we performed three sets of experiments. The first objective is to differentiate the function of the basal amygda (BA) and the posterior striatum (pStr) in an approach-avoidance conflict. The second objective is to understanding potential behaviours and stimuli that might be affected by striatal function. The third objective is to understand the circuit mechanisms underlying the activation of amygdalostriatal (BA to dorsomedial striatum –DMS-) and amygdalocortical (BA to prelimbic cortex –PrL-) pathways in a risk-taking paradigm. This dataset is comprised by three sets of data: DATA SET 1. The function of the BA and pStr in decision making. DATA SET 2. Recording of the unitary activity in the pStr. DATA SET 3. The circuit mechanisms underlying the role of the BA input projection into targeting the DMS and Prelimbic cortex in decision making. DATASET1: The function of the BA and pStr in decision making The aim of this experiment is to uncover the contribution of the basal amygdala (BAa) and Striatum (Str) in a decision-making behavioural paradigm, the active avoidance protocol. This dataset consists of two experiments codenamed: Inhibition BAa and Inhibition Str. Files: DataSet1_InhibitionBAa_InjectionFiles.zip, Contains the images of the injection sites for the experiment InhibitionBAa. Data format: .jpg. Dataset1_InhibitionBAa_TrackTTL.zip, Contains the raw and primary data for the experiment InhibitionBAa. Data format: .mat, .mp4, .rhd. DataSet1_InhibitionStr_InjectionFiles.zip, Contains the images of the injection sites for the experiment InhibitionStr. Data format: .tif. Dataset1_InhibitionStr_TrackTTL.zip, Contains the raw and primary data for the experiment InhibitionStr. Data format: .mat, .mp4, .rhd. DataSet1_AnimalCodes.csv, List of the animals used in this dataset with codenames, genders and other relevant information. DataSet1_InhibitionBAaProtocol.rtf, Description of the behavioural protocol and acquired data for the experiment Inhibition BAa. DataSet1_InhibitionStrProtocol.rtf, Description of the behavioural protocol and acquired data for the experiment Inhibition Str. DataSet1_TissueData.csv, List and description of the injection images. DataSet1_WeightControl.csv, Weight loss supervision of the animals used in this dataset. DATASET2: Recording of the unitary activity in the pStr The aim of this experiment is to uncover the potential behaviours and stimuli that might be affected by striatal function. This dataset consists of an experiment with two protocols codenamed: Sound Protocol and Behaviour Protocol. Files: DataSet2_UnitsRecordingsStr_BehaviourProtocolData.zip, Contains the raw and primary data for the Behaviour Protocol. Data format: .mat, .mp4, .continuous, .csv, etc. DataSet2_UnitsRecordingsStr_ElectrodesLocation.zip, Contains the images of the track left by the penetration of the electrodes for each animal used in the experiment. Data format: .tif. DataSet2_UnitsRecordingsStr_SoundProtocolData.zip, Contains the raw and primary data for the Sound Protocol. Data format: .mat, .wmv, .continuous, .csv, etc. DataSet2_AnimalCodes.csv, List of the animals used in this dataset with codenames, genders and the list and description of the electrodes track images and other relevant information. DataSet2_ElectrodesGroups.csv, Detailed explanation of the grouping used to analyse the neurons in the Sound Protocol. DataSet2_NeuronsList.csv, List and detailed description of the neurons recorded in this dataset. DataSet2_UnitsRecordingsStr_BehaviourProtocol .rtf, Description of the behavioural protocol and acquired data for the Behaviour Protocol. DataSet2_UnitsRecordingsStr_SoundProtocol.rtf, Description of the behavioural protocol and acquired data for the Sound Protocol. DATASET3: The role of the BA input projection into DMS and PrL in decision making. The aim of this experiment is to uncover the mechanism by which the neural activity in the PrL and the DMS during a decision-making paradigm is controlled by the BA afferents. Files: DataSet3_GamblingTask_Data.zip, Contains the raw and primary data for the experiment. Data format: .mat, .continuous, .events, etc. DataSet3_GamplingTask_InjectionElectrodesLocation.zip, Contains the images of the track left by the penetration of the electrodes and the injection sites for each animal used in the experiment. Data format: .jpg. DataSet3_AnimalCodes.csv, List of the animals used in this dataset with codenames, genders and other relevant information. DataSet3_GamblingTask_NeuronsList.csv, List and detailed description of the neurons recorded in this dataset. DataSet3_GamblingTask_Protocol.rtf, Description of the behavioural protocol and acquired data for the experiment. DataSet3_TissueData.csv, List and description of the injection images. All videos, TTLs, recordings and tracking are available on demand. Please contact pardo-bellver.cecilia(a)koki.hu.
