Abstract

University education is a stage that involves many demands, as well as academic, social and personal demands for students. This context became more complex in the current pandemic era, as education went from being face-to-face to being virtual, which highlighted other limitations such as accessibility and connectivity problems and the new way of learning. Therefore, the objective of this research was to determine the prevalence of academic stress in students in the professional education career of a Peruvian university at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The research approach was quantitative, the design non-experimental and the type correlational. The sample consisted of 172 students to whom the SISCO Inventory of Academic Stress and a socio-demographic data sheet were applied. According to the findings, the students were characterized by high levels of academic stress and it was determined that this variable is significantly associated with sex, age group and year of studies. It was concluded that it is necessary to apply psychoeducational strategies that reduce the prevalence of academic stress in students so that they develop properly and improve their quality of life.
