Sinonichnus yunnanensis Jaloszynski 2021, comb. n.

Authors: Jałoszyński, Paweł;

Sinonichnus yunnanensis Jaloszynski 2021, comb. n.

Abstract

Sinonichnus yunnanensis Jałoszyński, comb. n. Scydmoraphes yunnanensis Jałoszyński, 2019: 182. Figs (1, 3–4, 11) Type material studied: holotype of Scydmoraphes yunnanensis: ♁, three labels: „Huanxipo (1,950m) / Tengchong X., Yunnan / [SE-CHINA]“ [white, printed]; „ 14.x.1996, S. Nomura“ and locality name repeated in Chinese characters [white, printed], „ SCYDMORAPHES \ yunnanensis m. \ det. P. Jałoszyński, 2018 \ HOLOTYPUS “ [red, printed] (NSMT). Additional material studied: China: 4 ♁♁, 7 ♀♀, Yunnan, pass SW Baoshan Gaoliging Shan, 4-8.vi.2005, sifted at base of old tree, leg. O. Nakládal (cPH, cPJ). Emended diagnosis. Body length distinctly below 1 mm; antennae in males unmodified; anterior margin of prosternum crenulate; aedeagus (illustrated in Jałoszyński (2019)) stout, with broadly subtriangular apex, circular ventral diaphragm and lateral bunches of needle-like sclerites in endophallus. Remarks. Females of this species differ from males in having much smaller eyes situated closer to mandibular bases, so that tempora are slightly more than twice as long as eyes. Apart from unmodified antennae in males, S. yunnanensis differs from the newly described S. leiodicornutus in a distinctly smaller body, crenulate anterior margin of prosternum (smooth in S. leiodicornutus), unmodified metaventrite, and a clearly different shape of the aedeagus.

Published as part of Jałoszyński, Paweł, 2021, Sinonichnus gen. n. for Scydmoraphes yunnanensis Jałoszyński, and description of Sinonichnus leiodicornutus sp. n.
