The species of the genus Ammonicera of the Iberian Peninsula (Atlantic and Mediterranean) are revised, using extensively the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) with which mainly details of the protoconch and the microsculpture were studied. Essential differences are shown to discriminate the two previously known species Ammonicera rota and A. fischeriana. The intraspecific variability was explored and this allowed us to conclude that there are additional species, of which six (A. columbretensis, A. andresi, A. nodulosa, A. superstriata, A. arrondoi and A. galaica) are described as new to science. The highest species diversity is found in the Baleares, with up to five sympatric species, followed by Columbretes Islands and the Strait of Gibraltar, with 4 species.
