This report presents key findings from The Sustainable Textiles project, a science-business research partnership led by the Stockholm Resilience Centre at Stockholm University, funded by H&M Group through the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in collaboration with its Global Partners initiative. Tackling planetary priorities by applying circular economy principles can help the fashion and textiles industry to adapt resiliently to today’s rapidly changing social and environmental realities. This report outlines why the fashion and textiles industry urgently needs to take a planetary perspective. Using the planetary boundaries framework as a basis, it explains how tackling planetary pressures with circular economy principles is key to promoting industry transformation. It promotes action on six planetary priorities: the already acute pressures where today’s trends intensify global risks.
