This rapid SWOT analysis was performed as part of EdTech Hub’s collaboration with the KICD. This introduction describes the context of this collaboration, the background and purpose of the KEC, and then describes the nature, purpose, and limitations of the current analysis. In response to school closures starting in March 2020, which are planned to continue until January 2021, Kenya’s Ministry of Education worked with partners to design the Learning Continuity in Basic Education Project (LCBEP) (⇡Global Partnership for Education, 2020). The US$ 11 million project, funded by the Global Partnership for Education ⇡Global Partnership for Education (2021), is increasing access to distance education for Kenya’s primary and secondary students while schools are closed. It will also support a smooth return to school for the most vulnerable students.
