This dataset accompanies "A new actinopterygian Cheirolepis jonesi nov. sp. from the Givetian of Spitsbergen, Svalbard", published in the Norwegian Journal of Geology. CT scanning of the paratype, PMO 235.121, was undertaken by SG at the Imaging and Analysis Centre, NHMUK, using a Metris X-Tek HMX ST 225 with the following settings: 3142 projections, 4 frames per projection, 1000 ms exposure, 200 kV, 215 μA, 1.6 mm copper filter, voxel size 43.5 μm. Reconstructed tomographic datasets were segmented in Mimics v.19 (biomedical.materialise.com/mimics; Materialise, Leuven, Belgium). Images of the resulting models were then generated using Blender (blender.org). This dataset comprises the raw slice data (in TIFF format), the segmented Mimics file, and 3D PLY files.
