Western Atlantic—Brazil (Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul), Uruguay, and Argentina (Williams & Boschi 1990 as Panopeus margentus; Vieira et al. 1998; Coelho et al. 2008; Vieira & Calazans 2010 as Hexapanopeus schmitti; Alves et al. 2012a, b; Spivak et al. 2019). Remarks. Previous records in São Paulo include Ubatuba (Mantelatto & Fransozo 2000; Bertini et al. 2004 as Hexapanopeus schmitti; Alves et al. 2012b), Ilha Vitória (Alves et al. 2012a). In Argentina it was listed as Hexapanopeus schmitti and Panopeus margentus (Spivak et al. 2019).
