El caso del pueblo Wayuu de la Guajira. Contexto y estrategias de lucha contra el Cerrejón.

Abstract

El presente trabajo surge de una investigación realizada durante tres meses junto en el año 2015 en las comunidades wayuu ubicadas en el departamento de la Guajira al norte de Colombia. Este consistió en un estudio de caso, al indagar en las comunidades afectadas directamente por las acciones de la empresa del Cerrejón. Los participantes fueron entonces: Nuevo espinal, Palmarito, Ekitmana, Barrancón, Jamiche, Vallabangloma, Provincial, Tamaquito II y la Granja. Este pueblo indígena afronta una gran amenaza de extinción física y cultural a partir de la explotación. En esta investigación como primer elemento realizo una breve descripción de quien es el pueblo indígena wayuu ubicado en el departamento de la Guajira. Para ello hago una síntesis de la caracterización llevada a cabo a partir de fuentes primarias (entrevistas) y secundarias (derechos de petición, información suministrada por la alcaldía de Hatonuevo y Barrancas), realizando un censo sociodemográfico a partir de los insumos del plan salvaguarda para el pueblo wayuu del sur de la Guajira. También en la introducción hago un resumen del escenario de las disputas que se han presentado entre los indígenas y la empresa carbonífera del Cerrejón. Lo que considero importante a la hora de comprender la problemática actual que sufren los actores en el territorio.
