IPBES VA Chapter 2. Literature review on the diverse perspectives on fisheries at the global scale Code: VA_2.5_Ch2 Version: 1 (28.Dec.2020) DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.4399387 Description: The IPBES Values Assessment explores the incorporation of NCPs into decision-making, and in a very important manner, which worldviews, principles, importance and preferences are brought into those decisions. It is also relevant to understand if and how more plural valuation processes can provide relevant input towards transformational change leading to sustainability. In order to illustrate this with a concrete example, a cross-cutting topic on fisheries in the global oceans and in the countries’ exclusive economic zones will be developed for the whole Assessment, starting in Chapter 2. The case will cover issues of power relations between the big fishing corporations, the criminal activities associated with fisheries, the role of key actors, in relation to artisanal fisheries, and emerging conflicts. This report presents the raw references that will be used to build the case.
