Jamaica 1: 145, t. 94, f. 1. 1707 - Voucher: Herb. Sloane 2: 122 (BM-SL). Current name: Corchorus siliquosus L. (Tiliaceae). Note: Jansen-Jacobs & Meijer (in Görts-van Rijn, Fl. Guianas, ser. A, 17: 28. 1995) indicated 691.6 (LINN) as the type but it is a Browne collection, received by Linnaeus only in 1758, so not original material for the name. Similarly, although 691.7 (LINN) was treated by McVaugh (Fl. Novo-Galiciana 3: 76. 2001) as the type, this collection lacks the relevant Species Plantarum number (i.e. “1”) and was a post-1753 addition to the herbarium, and is not original material for the name.
