Atragene alpina Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 542. 1753. "Habitat in Helvetia, Baldo, Sibiria." RCN: 4025. Lectotype (Serov & Jarvis in Taxon 37: 168. 1988): Herb. Burser XVII: 39 (UPS). Generitype of Atragene Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 163. 1929). Current name: Clematis alpina (L.) Mill. (Ranunculaceae). Note: Pringle (in Brittonia 23: 363. 1971) stated that the holotype was in LINN but did not distinguish between sheets 711.1 and 711.2. However, as these collections are not duplicates, Art. 9.15 does not apply and Serov & Jarvis’ subsequent type choice of Burser material is correct.
