Acrostichum dichotomum Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 1068. 1753. "Habitat in China." RCN: 7772. Lectotype (Holttum in van Steenis, Fl. Malesiana, ser. II, 1:41. 1959): [icon] "Cochine branched Comb Fern" in Petiver, Gazophyl. Nat.: 7, t. 70, f. 12. 1702-1709. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 163: 43 (BM-SL). Current name: Schizaea dichotoma (L.) Sm. (Schizaeaceae). Note: Stearn (Introd. Linnaeus’ Sp. Pl. (Ray Soc. ed.): 129. 1957) treated a Cuningham specimen in Petiver’s herbarium (BM-SL) as the type but this was not seen by Linnaeus and is not original material for the name.
