Selago polystachya Linnaeus, Mantissa Plantarum Altera: 250. 1771. "Habitat in Cap. b. spei campis arenosis." RCN: 4553. Lectotype (Hilliard, Tribe Selagineae: 118. 1999): Herb. Linn. No. 786.5 (LINN). Current name: Selago polystachya L. (Scrophulariaceae). Note: The uncertainty expressed by Wijnands (Bot. Commelins: 191, 192. 1981) as to whether 786.5 (LINN) is either “probably” (p. 191) or "can be" (p. 192) the type means that Hilliard’s later, but unequivocal, choice is accepted here.
