Polygonum persicaria Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 361. 1753. "Habitat in Europae cultis." RCN: 2860. Lectotype (Ekman & Knutsson in Nordic J. Bot. 14: 24. 1994): Herb. Burser IV: 101, left specimen (UPS). Current name: Persicaria maculosa Gray (Polygonaceae). Note: Bhopal & Chaudhri (in Pakistan Syst. 1(2): 76. 1977) indicated 510.12 (LINN) as the type, but this is a Hudson collection received by Linnaeus after 1753, so it cannot be original material for the name.
