Urtica cylindrica Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 984. 1753. "Habitat in Jamaica, Virginia, Canada." RCN: 7136. Lectotype (Wilmot-Dear & Friis in Opera Bot. 129: 18. 1996): Herb. Linn. No. 1111.12 (LINN). Current name: Boehmeria cylindrica (L.) Sw. (Urticaceae). Note: Wilmot-Dear & Friis discussed the original elements for the name, noting that 1111.12 (LINN) was designated as lectotype by Stuyveysant in 1984, in an unpublished M.Sc thesis. The latter cannot provide a valid typification but, as Wilmot-Dear & Friis evidently accept this sheet as the type, the choice is attributed to them.
